As we welcome a new year, we celebrate not only new beginnings, but the journey that has brought us here.
Over the past year, our project has continued its work in the northern mountains of Vietnam, guided by a simple yet urgent belief: that diverse ways of knowing and being deserve to be seen, heard, and valued in a rapidly homogenizing world.
Together with Dao, Mường, Hmong, and Giáy communities, and in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Vietnam, we have listened, learned, and walked alongside stories rooted in landscape, identity, and everyday life.
✨ This year in numbers:
• 700 photo-voice images
• 15,000+ photos and videos
• 60 days of fieldwork
• 9 focus groups
• 35 individual interviews
• 60 hours of recorded conversations
Behind every number is trust. Behind every image is a perspective. Behind every conversation is a worldview that expands how we understand tourism, culture, health, and belonging.
As we step into 2026, our journey enters a new and exciting phase. The stories shared with us will soon move beyond the field, into exhibitions, visual storytelling initiatives, and research outputs designed to spark dialogue and reflection.
🌱 In the year ahead, we look forward to sharing these insights more widely and inviting you to engage with them, through events, exhibitions, and upcoming publications that bring these voices into new spaces.
Because this work is not only about research. It is about connection. It is about honoring knowledge. It is about imagining futures where plurality is strength.
🌕 Wishing you a meaningful, inspired, and prosperous New Year 2026.
